Drilling Plates

Often when framing interior walls, the plate can split and create problems later when applying the baseboards. The plate may widen and result in gaps between the drywall and basboard. To avoid baseboard/drywall gaps, PRE-DRILL the nail holes at slightly opposite angles, so the nails counteract for better hold.
