Synopsis
QMF: Reports describes how to use IBM's Query management Facility (QMF) to format reports generated from queries that retrieve information from relational databases.

Presents an overview of concepts pertaining to relational databases and QMF. Describes the tables used in the course.
 
Relational Concepts
 based on a relational model.  Components of relational tables.

QMF Concepts
Purpose of QMF.  QMF's Home panel and User Profile panel.  Use of the SHOW and RESET QUERY commands.  The END operation within QMF.


Formatting with QMF
Discusses concepts about report formatting within QMF.  Describes methods to reformat reports using QMF's default form and other forms.
 
Report Elements
Five elements involved with building a report within QMF.  Purpose of QMF's default form.  Accessing the default form from the Report panel.  Redisplaying a report.
Controlling Columns
The SEQ column to resequence the report.  The EDIT column to change the printing of column values.  The WIDTH column to change column width.  The INDENT column to change the spacing between printed items.  Stacking a column title.  Changing default DATE and TIME edit columns.
Controlling Summary Information
The USAGE column for additional formatting features.  The BREAKn option to establish a control break.  The GROUP option to provide summary information within specified groups.  The OMIT option to leave a column out of any grouping.  The ACROSS option to print summary information across the page.
Controlling Headings
The OUTLINE option to indicate printing of repeated column values.  The FOOTING option to print supplemental text when control breaks occur.  The PAGE HEADING and PAGE FOOTING options to place text at the top and bottom of each page.  The FINAL option to place a text line at the end of the report.  The SHOW command to display additional panels.

Use of these panels: FORM.COLUMNS, FORM.OPTIONS, FORM.PAGE, FORM.FINAL, FORM.BREAKn and FORM.CALC.
