Synopsis
FOCUS: Getting Started presents general concepts and terminology essential to the new FOCUS user.  This course also covers the optional TED and TOE facilities of FOCUS.

This course is for data processing and business professionals who will be using FOCUS.

General Concepts
Describes FOCUS, a database management system which uses a non-procedural language.  Defines basic concepts and terms relating to the FOCUS environment.
 
What is FOCUS?
Basic concepts and terminology of FOCUS, such as environments, fields, segments, instances and types of fields.
FOCUS File Structure
Additional concepts and terminology relating to hierarchical structures, including types of segments, relationships and paths.
Accessing FOCUS
Methods to begin a FOCUS session.  Information in the FOCUS signon message.  How to terminate a FOCUS session.

Explains the FOCUS text editor TED.  Covers general information about using this editor, as well as some of the TED editing commands.
 
General Concepts

Add and Delete
Use of the INPUT command.  Features of the ADD, A and I commands; the  DELETE, D and DD commands.
