Database Concepts introduces the principles of database management systems (DBMSs).  It explains database management concepts in both theory and practical application.

Describe the four functions of data management
Define the components of DBMSs and describe the advantages
Describe three models of DBMSs
Evaluate how each model supports the four data management functions
Select the appropriate database model for a given situation

Data Management Systems
Identifies four functions associated with managing and using data.  Explains three systems for managing data and evaluates each system with regard to the data management functions.  Defines and describes a database management system and gives three models of DBMSs.  Introduces the company used as an example throughout the course.
