History of Mining Laws

The entire mining industry is governed by various forms of legal requirements. These requirements are commonly defined in mining laws or a Mines Act. Most mining laws have evolved with experience and responses to new technology.

All mine development and mine production is governed by the Mines Act and enforced by the Mines Inspector. Mine layout and the production models used by each mine must adhere to the specifications of the Mines Act.
