Special Procedures During the normal mining cycle of the stope, some or all of the following special procedures may be encountered as the stope progresses from one cut to the next.
On every third cut, the footwall orepass must be extended upwards in preparation for a new access. This is normally done during sandfill preparation of an area, in order that the waste rock excavated may be left in the stope.
Access to the orepass is made after the sandfill has hardened. On the next mining cycle, a backslash is taken at the entrance of the orepass to provide access for the scooptram.
To obtain access to the higher elevation of sandfill where the new cut will be started, the sandfill barricade is removed and a ramp built using the scooptram to pull down sand or placing waste rock. At this time, the catwalk and sandfill pipes are stripped and removed with the aid of the scooptram.
