Mineral Science Industrial - Vocational Program

Course Background

The Mineral Science Industrial - Vocational program was initially started in 1977 at R.D.Parker Collegiate, Thompson, Manitoba, Canada. Students take the Mineral Science major in Grade 10, 11, and 12 which covers the same material as first year college.

Through an articulation agreement with Keewatin Community College, students passing the Mineral Science Major were granted first year completion. Students could then enter the second year of the K.C.C. Mineral Science Technology program. Several students have also gone on to Cambrian College, Sudbury for further education.

Over 153 students have obtained direct employment in the Mineral industry after High school graduation and several have gone on to become geologists, engineers, and shift bosses.
