Century Media has signed Switzerland's most promising Hardcore/Metal outfit, Gurd. The band is just about to record their third full-length album which is going to be produced by Waldemar Sorychta (Grip, Inc., Samael) in Woodhouse Studio. "D-fect" will be released January 7th!
The band is working on a Re-Mix Album with people from the Techno/Ambient and Trip-Hop movement, and will release the results in the beginning of next year.
The band from the polar-circle is just shooting a video-clip for "Noose". Their Album "Down" is just about to be released in Europe and got already excellent reviews in the European Metal Press. Sentenced will also play the "Dark Winter Night"-Festivals with Label mates The Gathering. The album will be released in the US on February 25th.
Anal Cunt have finished recording a new album titled 'I Like it When You Die' featuring 53 tracks including 'You've Got No Friends', 'Recycling Is Gay', 'You're Favourite Band Is Supertramp' and 'No, We Don't Want To Do A Split 7" With Your Stupid Fucking Band.' Look for the album in stores in Early '97.
In a strange move, Extreme Noise Terror have replaced former vocalist Phil Vane with the man he is replacing in Napalm Death; Barney Greenway! Look for new material featuring Greenway to be released sometime in '97.

The huge news from Earache Records is the departure of Barney Greenway from the 'legendary' Death Metal band Napalm Death. After seven years and four albums with the band, the remaining members felt that it was time to move on to the next phase, and made the shock decision last week. Extreme Noise Terror frontman Phil Vane will take over for Greenway and will be in studios with Napalm Death to record a new album in January which Earache hopes to release in May 1997. Those wanting to hear new material from the band will only have to wait until January when Earache release a split EP 'In Tongues We Speak' with Coalesce.
Crisis have parted ways with drummer Fred Waring (due to 'musical differences') and have replaced him with relative unknown Scott Bates. The band plans to enter studios in the spring of '97 to record a follow-up album to their Metal Blade debut; 'Deathshead Extermination'
Six Feet Under have signed a six album deal with Metal Blade Records. Look for a brand new LP sometime in 1997.
The worldwide response to Elegy has been overwhelming, even breaking into the Finnish national Top 20 chart at a healthy #9! Two videos, for Against Widows and My Kantele (acoustic reprise), have been completed and can be seen on regional cable video shows across the country! A mini-CD is scheduled for release in early '97, featuring new tracks, with covers of Hawkwind and Kingston Wall songs rounding out the track selection. AMORPHIS fans and collectors will want to keep an eye out for the upcoming Black Winter Day 11" vinyl release, which adds bonus track Light My Fire to the original four-song track listing.
Blood Duster are currently in the process of writing their second full-length shocker, minus drummer Matt, who recently departed. In the meantime, Relapse Records have released their Fisting the Dead debut, the Yeest mini-CD and one bonus track, all on one pulsating CD!

The snarling three-headed beast comprised of Danny Lilker (BRUTAL TRUTH), Shane Embury (NAPALM DEATH) and Scott Lewis (ex-BRUTAL TRUTH) released their full-length Defiance of the Ugly By the Merely Repulsive late last year, which incorporated a much more warped industrial sound than their respective bands. Originally coming together after realizing they shared a mutual appreciation for the likes of SKINNYPUPPY and COIL, Defiance... was recorded in two sessions over the last two years at the infamous Smoke, Grind, Sleep Studios in New York City, and has been met with acclaim from followers of both the grind and industrial genres. MALFORMED EARTHBORN will contribute an exclusive track to Release Your Mind Vol. 2. MALFORMED have definite plans to record a second full length at England's Framework studios (NAPALM DEATH). It will only get uglier and more repulsive.

Deicide are currently recording material for a new album due out in '97.
Drummer Dave McClain and bassist Adam Duce were in a serious car accident on Wednesday, October 23. Adam suffered a few minor bruises but is fine. Unfortunately, Dave injured his knee and underwent surgery to repair it. He will be in a cast for six weeks and will then need a few more weeks to rehab it once the cast is removed. The good news is he will be 100% by early next year. Good News is Machine Head's new album (which is completed now), 'The More Things Change', will be released in early '97.
Obituary has finished recording a new album entitled "Back From The Dead", which will be released in March 1997. This album will more than likely be their last since their contract with Roadrunner expires this year. Look for new Obituary projects to spring up in the near future.
Sepultura have just re-released 'Chaos AD' with a four new tracks, the band plans on re-releasing 'Roots' very soon with a second CD containing approximately 20 previously unreleased tracks.

HATE PLOW, side project of MALEVOLENT CREATION guitarist Phil Fasciana and current Cannibal Corpse, ex-Malevolent Creation guitarist Rob Barrett, will be entering studios soon to record their debut album; R.A.P.E. (Retarded Americans Possessed By Evil). Watch for a cover of CREAM's 'Sunshine Of Your Love' to appear. The band also features singer Kyle Symons (SICKNESS) and bassist Tim Scott (REVANANT).

Malevolent Creation have released 'Joe Black', an extended EP containing 3 new tracks, demo song, remixes, and a Slayer cover.
